Short answer: the CDN brands I’d seriously consider

If you want top CDN providers people actually use, start with these:

1. Cloudflare — best default for most websites/apps
2. Amazon CloudFront — best if you’re already on AWS
3. Fastly — best for developer control, dynamic content, real-time config/purge
4. Akamai — best for large enterprise, media, high-scale global delivery
5. Google Cloud CDN / Media CDN — best if you’re on Google Cloud or need Google-scale media delivery
6. Microsoft Azure Front Door / Azure CDN — best if you’re on Azure / Microsoft enterprise stack
7. Bunny.net — best low-cost, simple CDN for startups, WordPress, static assets, images
8. Gcore / CDN77 — strong alternatives for global delivery, video, and price-sensitive workloads

Usage data varies by measurement method, but the same names keep appearing: Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Akamai, and Google are consistently visible in market-share and review datasets. For example, HTTP Archive’s Web Almanac lists Cloudflare, Amazon CloudFront, Google, and Akamai among leading CDN vendors, while Wappalyzer’s 2026 CDN data also shows Cloudflare and Amazon CloudFront among the most-used CDN technologies. My practical recommendations

Top 5 I’d shortlist first

1. Cloudflare

Best overall default. If you don’t have special requirements, Cloudflare is usually the first CDN to try because it combines CDN, DNS, DDoS protection, WAF, bot tools, Workers, image optimization, Zero Trust, and edge storage/services in one ecosystem. Cloudflare also reports a very large global network capacity, and third-party usage datasets consistently show it as one of the most widely deployed CDN/reverse-proxy providers. Choose Cloudflare if: you want the easiest, broadly capable CDN for websites, APIs, SaaS, ecommerce, security, and DNS.

2. Amazon CloudFront

Best for AWS-native teams. CloudFront integrates tightly with S3, EC2, ALB, Route 53, AWS WAF, Shield, Lambda@Edge, and CloudFront Functions. 3. Fastly

Best for developers who want precision and speed at the edge. Fastly is popular with engineering-heavy companies because of its programmable edge model, real-time observability, fast purging, VCL/Compute capabilities, and strong support for dynamic content. The “safe” buying advice

• Pick Cloudflare if you want the best general-purpose CDN/security platform.
• Pick CloudFront if your infrastructure is mostly AWS.
• Pick Fastly if your developers need advanced edge logic and fast purging.
• Pick Akamai if you’re enterprise-scale, media-heavy, or need deep vendor support.
• Pick Bunny.net if cost and simplicity matter more than enterprise features.
• Use multi-CDN — often Cloudflare + Fastly, CloudFront + Akamai, etc. — if downtime or regional performance is mission-critical.

For most businesses, I’d shortlist Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, and Akamai first, then add Bunny.net or Gcore if budget is a major factor.
