If you are buying for a UK small business, I’d do this

Minimum sensible stack:

1. Microsoft 365 Business Premium
   Use MFA, Conditional Access, Intune, Defender for Business and secure device management.

2. Endpoint / MDR
   Use either Microsoft Defender for Business, Sophos MDR, CrowdStrike Falcon Complete or SentinelOne with an MDR partner.

3. Email security
   Start with Defender for Office 365; add Mimecast, Proofpoint, Darktrace / EMAIL or Abnormal if phishing, impersonation or compliance risk is high.

4. Firewall / network
   For most SMEs: Fortinet FortiGate or Sophos Firewall.
   For larger or regulated organisations: Palo Alto Networks or Check Point.

5. Backup and recovery
   Add immutable backup for Microsoft 365, servers and endpoints. Cyber security without recoverable backups is incomplete.

6. Cyber Essentials
