Competitor prompt
Definition
A competitor prompt is a comparison question that puts brands side by side, such as "Acme vs Initech" or "alternatives to Initech". Competitor prompts reveal who AI reaches for when a buyer is actively weighing options.
Alternatives questions are a special prize: when buyers ask for alternatives to a rival, the assistant’s list is a free introduction to customers already dissatisfied with someone else.
Comparison answers also expose the criteria engines think matter in your category. If every comparison mentions a capability you have but are never credited with, the gap is in the sources, and it is fixable.
