Looker Studio.

The CiteHawk connector makes your AI visibility data a Looker Studio data source, so it charts beside everything else you already report on. One row per day, brand, AI model and prompt type.

What you get

FieldWhat it meansUnit
dateThe day the answers were collected.Date
brand_nameYour brand, or one of your tracked competitors.Text
providerThe AI model the row is measured on. The value all is the cross-model rollup.Text
prompt_typeWhich prompts the row is based on: discovery, branded, or all.Text
metric_versionWhich generation of the metric definitions produced the row.Text
sovShare of voice: your share of the brand mentions across the answers.Percent, 0 to 1
mention_rateThe share of answers that mentioned the brand at all.Percent, 0 to 1
citation_rateThe share of answers that cited the brand’s own site.Percent, 0 to 1
avg_sentimentAverage sentiment of the mentions, from negative to positive.Number
responses_collectedHow many answers the row is calculated from.Number

Set it up

  1. Create an API key with the read metrics scope. In CiteHawk, open workspace Settings, find the API Keys card on the General tab, and create a key with the Metrics scope selected. Copy it before you leave the page; it is shown once. See API keys for the detail.
  2. Open the connector. On the Integrations tab of the same settings page, use Add the CiteHawk connector. That opens Looker Studio with the connector selected. If you were given a connector ID instead, open it directly:
    https://lookerstudio.google.com/datasources/create?connectorId=CONNECTOR_ID
  3. Authorize and paste the key. Looker Studio asks to authorize the connector, then for your API key. Paste the key from step one.
  4. Choose the prompt type. Discovery prompts is the default and the honest basis for share of voice. Branded prompts and All prompts are also available. One data source covers one choice, so create a second data source if you want to chart two.
  5. Set the date range on the report. The connector reads whatever range the report asks for, up to 366 days per request.

Notes on the data

  • The data is daily. Rows appear after a collection runs and is analysed, so the most recent day in a report is the last completed collection, not today.
  • The market is global. The connector returns the worldwide figures. Per-market breakdowns stay in CiteHawk.
  • Rates are 0 to 1. Format sov, mention_rate and citation_rate as percentages in Looker Studio and it will show them correctly. They are averaged, not summed, when a chart drops the date.
  • metric_version marks the September 2026 metric contract change. Rows written before and after that change carry different values. Nothing is filtered out, so a chart that spans the boundary can show it rather than average across it. Add metric_version as a breakdown dimension when comparing a long period.
  • Provider includes a rollup. The value all is the combined figure across AI models. Filter it out when charting models side by side, or filter to it alone for a single headline number.

Troubleshooting

The key screen says the key lacks the read metrics scope. The key is valid but was created without the Metrics scope. Scopes cannot be changed after creation, so create a new key with Metrics selected and paste that one.

Charts stop loading and mention authorization. The key was revoked or has expired. Create a new key, then open the data source in Looker Studio and use Edit connection to enter it.

The report is empty. Check the date range first: an empty result usually means no collection ran in that window. Check the prompt type next, since a brand with no branded prompts has no branded rows. If a brand you expect is missing, confirm it is still tracked in the workspace.

Google warns that the connector is not verified. That warning appears for connectors outside Google’s public gallery. Check the publisher shown on the screen matches who gave you the link, then continue.

Refreshes start failing after a burst of edits. Requests are rate limited per API key. Wait a minute and refresh. If several reports share one key, give each its own.
